How are embeds released ahead of the concrete schedule?
Embeds are released as their own early submittal: an embed schedule listing each mark with plate size, thickness, grade and studs or anchors, and layout plans dimensioning every embed to gridlines, slab edges and elevations. Release dates are set from the pour schedule at intake, so embeds are approved and delivered before they are needed.
Stud and anchor orientation is shown clearly so studs do not clash with reinforcing steel. Once concrete is placed, a missing or mislocated embed becomes a field fix, which is why embeds get the most attention in the checking sequence.
Which dimensions need field verification?
Misc steel dimensions that depend on work by other trades need field verification: floor-to-floor heights, slab edge and opening locations, wall faces that rails attach to, existing conditions on renovation work, and equipment locations for platforms and ladders. Every misc steel drawing is checked by a second person who did not draw it. Corrections are back-checked before any sheet is released.
