About Vertex Steel Detailing

Vertex Steel Detailing Services is a steel detailing company founded in 2026, with a team of five detailers and checkers based in Karnataka, India. It produces shop drawings, erection drawings, SDS/2 models, NC files, bolt lists, material takeoffs and submittal packages for US steel fabricators and construction businesses, and has completed five projects so far.

It is a young company, and this site says so. What it can show you is a documented checking process, a published rate, a reference project described in technical detail, and feedback from clients. It cannot show a long history, and it does not pretend to.

The team works only in SDS/2 because detailing in one platform every day builds deeper working knowledge than switching between several. Connection tools, drawing templates, report formats and NC export settings are learned once and refined on every package. The lead detailer has 8 years of SDS/2 experience, and the rest of the team works in the same environment.

The team is in Karnataka, India, working in India Standard Time, 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of US Eastern Daylight Time. Markups and questions sent at the end of the US workday are worked during the US night and returned for review the next morning. Communication runs in writing: email, RFIs with sheet references, and marked-up PDFs.

Drawings are prepared in accordance with AISC 303, the Code of Standard Practice, and AISC 360, the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, with bolted joints called out to the RCSC Specification and weld symbols to AWS A2.4. Dimensions are imperial, sheets follow US sizes, and connections are detailed to the Engineer of Record's design.

The team has completed five detailing projects since 2026. One is published as an anonymised case study: HSS frame assemblies with structural thermal breaks for an airport terminal rehabilitation and addition in New England, taken from Rev A for approval to Rev 0 for fabrication in six days. The others will be published once their details are confirmed for release.

Vertex does not perform stamped connection design, work in detailing platforms other than SDS/2, send staff to project sites, or publish client drawings and names without written permission. Being clear about those limits up front saves you time if one of them rules the team out.
